I was blessed to experience Kay in person at a conference during a teaching presentation. Five minutes into their "talk" (that to me was an all-encompassing, deeply moving performance), I knew I wanted to get them to my campus; I wanted to expose more people and all my colleagues to Kay's gift and knowledge. I was happy that they agreed to come to a virtual talk on misogynoir and their dissertation work to my upper-level gender class, yet I had advertised the event to the entire campus. If you have any chance to get Kay to speak and interact - I would jump on it. Not only is Kay'lyn Coghill a passionate and charismatic speaker, a "force of nature" of sorts that is not "natural." Their speaking and interaction reveal that they have worked very hard for very long to be theoretically versed and able to "play" with feminist and Black Feminist theory, and apply it back and forth, stitch it together to create completely new patterns as she connects student's questions and student's lifeworlds to decades of feminist knowledge and art production. I am inspired and impressed how many different things this human is doing, creating, generating and (co)producing. Go get them and pay them well.

It was a pleasure to co-lead the GLOW affinity group at Highland High Springs High School with KáLyn (Kay). Kay is mentoring and empowering the next generation of young women through their dedication to feminist hip-hop pedagogy. Kay developed a sister circle that empowers girls and femme non-binary youth to explore their identities, connect with peers and mentors, boost their self-efficacy, and nurture leadership skills.

Professor Coghill guest lectured in my Black Women and Popular Culture course in Fall 2023. They lectured on hip hop feminism and digital misogynoir. Throughout the rest of the semester and into the final course evaluations, my students told me how much they enjoyed Prof Coghill from their probing questions to their deep knowledge and thorough engagement with the subject matter and the urgency of this cultural moment - my students were grateful and excited to continue their own projects on the topic. Prof Coghill was open to guest lecturing without hesitation and in my first semester as a TT faculty member, I was and continue to be appreciative of Professor Coghill's commitment to a Black feminist politic of collective work.

Kay Coghill has visited my literature class twice, and each engagement with my students has been insightful, accessible, and inspiring. Kay has been the most effective guest speaker I've ever had in a literature class, and their insight on the contemporary landscape of reproductive justice is both necessary and timely. I will be asking Kay to visit my class again in the future, and you should, too.

I’ve used resources from Kalyn’s TikTok and other social media platforms several times and they’re dense enough to start excellent conversations and also accessible enough for all my students. I love the ease with which Kalyn addresses tough topics! My students are especially drawn to the videos addressing misogynoir; Kalyn’s voice provides an authority to the students and anchors their understanding of texts, characters, themselves, and each other. Will continue to use these resources as long and they’re available.

Kay gave a lecture to my undergraduate class, the Psychology of the Black Digital Experience. The students loved her presentation, her research and the passion she shows for the work, and the students. Kay, was well prepared, and engaged and made it easy for me to prepare for her arrival as she also reviewed our syllabus and modified her talk to fit our topic of the week. I hope to have Kay at future classes I teach! (:
